2012 Much Music Video Award winners - allvoices Posted: 17 Jun 2012 10:46 PM PDT The 2012 Much Music Video Awards – MMVAs – aired live from Toronto on June 17, 2012. It was truly a night of international music with performances by artists from nations on both sides of the Atlantic. Co-hosts and party rockers LMFAO opened the show with a medley of their songs, a strip tease, dance moves, and zebras crowd surfing in the audience. Carly Rae Jepsen performed her number one hit "Call Me Maybe". The first award was for International Video of the Year Artist and went to Katy PerryKaty Perry for "Last Friday Night". MMVA nominees Marianas Trench performed. International Video of the Year by a Canadian: Justin BieberJustin Bieber for "Boyfriend". International Video of the Year Group: LMFAO for "Sexy and I Know It". Canadian native Nelly FurtadoNelly Furtado performed her new single "Big Hoops". The performance featured World Champion Hoop Dancer Tony Duncan. Brit Award winning artist Ed Sheeran performed. Floridian Hip-Hop artist Flo Rida performed; and it didn't take long for the shirt to come off. Canada's own rock band Hedley performed. It was the fourth appearance at the MMVAs for the Vancouver rockers. In one of it's early seasons, singer Jacob HoggardJacob Hoggard was a contestant on "Canadian Idol"; although Jacob was eliminated early on, the band has been very successful with numerous hits. Video of the Year: Carly Rae Jepsen for "Call Me Maybe". "American Idol" winner and "Duets" coach Kelly ClarksonKelly Clarkson performed her hit "Stronger". Favourite Artist or Group: Justin Bieber. Katy Perry performs her hit "Wide Awake" – a song that will be featured on her new 3D movie "Part of Me". Favourite Video of the Year: Carly Rae Jepsen for "Call Me Maybe". Favourite International Artist or Group: Katy Perry The final performance of the night was from Canadian teen pop star Justin Bieber with a medley of his songs.
